Sophrology and performance

“One of the keys to success is self-confidence. One of the keys to self-confidence is preparation. “

Arthur Ashe

The importance of mental preparation for an athlete is well established these days. It is one of the pillars of success with physical training. The athlete’s first mental trainer is the coach, the second is the training itself.

In agreement, and in permanent contact, with the trainer and the medical circle, the role of the sophrologist is to partly support the athlete in his mental preparation.

This support can take different orientations:

  • Managing stress or anxiety
  • Concentration
  • Motivation
  • Cohesion in a team
  • Post-training and post-competition recovery
  • Post-injury recovery

Sophrology, like sport, requires liveliness and repetition to be effective.
